Woodland Photoshoot

If you go down in the woods today...

As an ‘On the Day’ wedding and events co-ordinator the majority of my work takes place at D.I.Y venues and outdoor locations. Finding this type of venue or location can be difficult, so when I hear of new D.I. Y venues I get particularly excited!

You can imagine my delight when Wendy from CJ Promotions told me about a new D.I.Y wedding venue they are managing called Once Upon a Woodland at Hurley Farm. After meeting with Ellie, the owner of this beautiful outdoor space and chatting with Wendy, they invited me to help co-ordinate a styled photoshoot they had planned. The purpose of this shoot was to showcase the woodlands and to show couples what can be created with a little bit of imagination.

This shoot couldn’t have taken place without the incredible team behind it, it was a totally amazing day and a fantastic collaboration. The icing on the cake was seeing it feature in Love Our Wedding magazine…

...well done everyone!

Our beautiful model Lauren Heyward looked absolutely stunning in two exquisite dresses designed by the super talented Chantelle Sophia Bridal.

Laurens incredible hair was styled by Wendy from Sapphire Stylingwith a bright floral headpiece created by Jess at Jessica Hillier Floral Design. Not only the hair stylist but Wendy was also the make-up artist on shoot, I think you will agree Lauren looks simply stunning!

We couldn’t have a bride without a groom, a massive thank you to Keith Bridlefor stepping in as our groom model...

…what a natural!

Flowers can be a big deal on your wedding day...

If you are stuck for ideas then Jessica Hillier Floral Designwill definitely be able to help you and make suggestions you would probably never have thought of. Look at these amazing chandeliers Jess created on the day, they looked just perfect hung from the branches in the woodland.

When organising a D.I.Y wedding you may need to hire props and have someone style your venue for you. If so, Debi from Perfectly Pretty Wedding & Events Styling is the lady to get in touch with. You may also want glamping tents for your guests to camp in if you have a big outdoor space. Debi's husband, Richard from Happy Glampers Dorset can help with this.

Get in touch with Debi or Richard and they will work with you to create something amazing!

The beauty of having a D.I.Y venue is you can choose exactly what style you want.

Why go for bog standard crockery when you can have gorgeous vintage china? Vicki from Grannys China Cupboard has the most beautiful vintage china, from tea-cups & saucers, to side plates, tea-pots, cake-stands and much more.

I love the versatility of bunting and the fact you can put it anywhere and it instantly brightens a place up. This beautiful bunting was made by Bunting by Chris and I am sure you will agree looks fantastic in amongst the trees. The contrast of the natural woodland with a pop of bunting colour flying high in the trees...

...Love it!

Weddings and cakes...well, they just go together!

The creative genius of this woodland themed wedding cake was Cakes by Helen.

Words can’t say much more than…WOW!

You may not be able to legally get married anywhere but it doesn’t mean you can’t have a ceremony at your D.I.Y venue. Fiona is the celebrant of Tie the Knot Ceremonies and will hold a ceremony for you wherever and however you want.

The choice really is yours!

For your ceremony you may want to consider an arch, these beautiful living arches are from Whitestem and look right at home in the natural woodland.

Why have fake when you can have REAL!

With all the branches it seemed silly not to hang anything from them!

These delicate crochet hoops were made by From Crochet with Love and looked perfect hanging in amongst the trees.

We couldn’t have captured this amazing gallery of photos without our fantastic photographers, Alexandra and Csako from Kiss in Light Photography...thank you so much!

Here are some more of my favourites...

Hopefully this photoshoot has inspired you to be brave and create your own D.I.Y wedding?

Just remember we are all here to help make your wedding dreams come true!

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed being a part of this fantastic day!

Lots of Love

Your DIY wedding planning journey can be hard work with a lot to think about and organise. For that reason it is important you actually enjoy your day without having to worry about who will do what jobs and when. Here you can read about Georgia and Phil's big day at Tournerbury Woods on Hayling Island and find out just how valuable it was for them to have a wedding co-ordinator to ensure they had a stress free wedding day.

In my opinion a DIY wedding is the perfect type of wedding as you can put your stamp on it and make it your own. Natalie and Jake had planned the most stunning DIY wedding at Bake Barn in Wiltshire and needed help with co-ordination on the day. Taking my team we made sure their day ran smoothly and to their time-plan doing all the jobs that needed doing. This meant they could enjoy every minute of their day with their friends and family - stress free!

Planning a DIY wedding is always so much fun but on the day there are so many jobs that need doing. Bex and Graham planned a beautiful and relaxed wedding at Warborne Farm in Lymington, Hampshire where the Tasha Mae team were able to help ensure all the jobs were done and their day ran smoothly so they didn't need to worry about a thing!

You have to love a marquee wedding in a field overlooking the sea, which is exactly what Keely and Dan planned for their big day. The Tasha Mae team loved co-ordinating their special DIY day and despite the strong winds and rain we all had a fabulous time ensuring everything ran like clockwork.

When planning a DIY marquee wedding there is a lot to do and you might find you need some help on the day. Read all about Emma and Ed's big day and how Tasha Mae and her team helped ensure everything run smoothly.

Winter weddings can be just as beautiful as summer weddings and after co-ordinating Jake and Laura's big day in December, I can most certainly vouch for that! You don't need to think of a theme with a twinkling Christmas tree, roaring fire and mince pies as canapes, what more could you ask for? Not only that but you don't need to worry about the weather as you've already planned it for the winter so you know what to aim for!

The beauty of planning your own DIY wedding is you can do exactly as you wish and after co-ordinating Cassie and Oliver's, I have to say there is something to be said for having your wedding at home in your back garden. With a relaxed, almost zen vibe, Cassie and Oliver had the most beautiful chilled out wedding day in the comfort of their family home and garden.

Deciding on your wedding decor is the fun part but on the day you might need some help putting everything in place whilst you get ready to tie the knot. Rachel and Ben had planned a DIY marquee wedding and needed some help in the morning of their big day to make sure their venue looked pretty and just as they wanted before everyone arrived.

As an on the day wedding co-ordinator so many of the weddings I co-ordinate are in the summer, which means the majority of my imagery are of bright sunny weddings. For that reason, I thought it was about time I showed everyone that winter weddings can be just as beautiful and somewhat mystical!

Planning a DIY wedding is great fun as it means you can personalise it and put your own stamp on your special day without lots of restrictions. This 'Real Wedding' blog tells the story of Katy and AJ who had their wedding reception in their parents garden with all their own handmade props.
