The Horseback Bride

...at Warborne Farm

Boy what a shoot!

Honestly if I told you just how many changes were made before this photoshoot you wouldn’t believe me!

If I told you a back-up location was needed in less than 24 hours, I doubt you would believe me either!

I am a true believer in the saying ‘Everything happens for a reason’ and I couldn’t be more pleased that everything did happen as it did for this shoot. When you look through these awesome images by Nadja Litau Photography , you will understand why I am saying that. In my opinion it is an absolute beauty of a photoshoot and we couldn’t have asked for a better end result.

A huge thank you to the amazing Warborne Farm in Lymington, Hampshire for giving us the go ahead to turn up with the team and our model Charlotte and her horse, Ruby... the next day! I really can’t shout about this farm and wedding venue enough. If you love the great outdoors and farm life and are also looking for beautiful onsite accommodation, then this really is the place to look at for a DIY wedding.

I am going to kick this blog off by sharing this fabulous short film produced by Joe from Lovecrafted Wedding Films, a fantastic videographer.

To some people a wedding mixed with animals may ring alarm bells, but if you ask me your pets are part of your family, so I say why not have them at your wedding?!

For quite some time my vision had been to organise a photoshoot with a lone bride and her horse. To see a bride riding her horse, cantering across the grassland with her stunning dress floating behind her, would just make the most beautiful image.

So, that is exactly what we did!

This stunning dress supplied by Minster Bridal Boutique really was something else. A delicate 3D flower embroidered lace dress with two thigh high slits and an A-line tulle skirt, teamed with an elegant and delicate cape. Both the dress and cape were by designer Riki Dalal...

...truly WOW!

Just look at all those beautiful layers...

If you are going to ride your horse and have your wedding on a farm then there is no point having impractical shoes!

To match our colourscheme Custom Wedding Conversesupplied these beautifully embellished orange converse boots. A comfortable and quirky surprise hidden under the wedding dress, which made riding Ruby so much easier for our model Charlotte.

Everyone loves a feather...right?

Well, I know I certainly do!

This statement head crown of feathery wonderfulness was handcrafted by the super talented Ritz & Sassand as you can see for yourselves was just incredible.

The head crown was positioned perfectly on Charlotte's loosely braided and twisted updo, elegantly styled by Sapphire Styling. This hairstyle was just perfect for the shoot. Braided enough that it wouldn’t blow in Charlotte's face while riding Ruby but still looking graceful and free in the wind...if that is such a thing!

Every bride deserves to be pampered on their wedding day, so I say, get in the professional make-up artists like Carina Allen-Jones Artistry.

If you want to bring a bit of colour to your wedding day then why not do it through your flowers?

As always Dorset Flowers never fails to disappoint. Ellie and Annette brought the Pinterest board to life by creating their own take on the brightly coloured brief...

...and of course, they couldn’t forget Ruby who was the perfect four legged model for flowers!

You can’t get married without wedding rings and choosing them is a big decision to make. If you are looking for something handmade and that little bit different then Georgina Ettridge Jewelleryis your ‘go to’ lady!

Georgina’s nature inspired rings and jewellery are simply exquisite...just take a look for yourself!

Beautiful stationery is the start of your wedding journey once you have sent out your invites to your friends and family. Taryn from Live Laugh Createdesigned this beautifully bright and colourful stationery set which looked just perfect against the bright florals.

CAKE!!

Who loves a beautiful cake?....ME!

How lucky were we to have the uber talented cake artist Helen Jane Cake Designcreate this absolute beauty of a cake for our shoot.

Now you are married why not have a sign to shout about it?!

Just look at this super cute ‘Just Hitched’ sign made by the wonderful stylist Laurel Designs...such a lovely memento to remind you of your very special day.

With so many stunning images by Nadja Litau PhotographyI had to share some of the others with you too!

A sleepy Ruby after all her modelling!

Ruby doing her little leg dance!

In true farm style I couldn’t end this blog without sharing these lovely little goats with you.

Such great company and they certainly had the ‘b---aahhh’ factor on shoot day!

Your DIY wedding planning journey can be hard work with a lot to think about and organise. For that reason it is important you actually enjoy your day without having to worry about who will do what jobs and when. Here you can read about Georgia and Phil's big day at Tournerbury Woods on Hayling Island and find out just how valuable it was for them to have a wedding co-ordinator to ensure they had a stress free wedding day.

In my opinion a DIY wedding is the perfect type of wedding as you can put your stamp on it and make it your own. Natalie and Jake had planned the most stunning DIY wedding at Bake Barn in Wiltshire and needed help with co-ordination on the day. Taking my team we made sure their day ran smoothly and to their time-plan doing all the jobs that needed doing. This meant they could enjoy every minute of their day with their friends and family - stress free!

Planning a DIY wedding is always so much fun but on the day there are so many jobs that need doing. Bex and Graham planned a beautiful and relaxed wedding at Warborne Farm in Lymington, Hampshire where the Tasha Mae team were able to help ensure all the jobs were done and their day ran smoothly so they didn't need to worry about a thing!

You have to love a marquee wedding in a field overlooking the sea, which is exactly what Keely and Dan planned for their big day. The Tasha Mae team loved co-ordinating their special DIY day and despite the strong winds and rain we all had a fabulous time ensuring everything ran like clockwork.

When planning a DIY marquee wedding there is a lot to do and you might find you need some help on the day. Read all about Emma and Ed's big day and how Tasha Mae and her team helped ensure everything run smoothly.

Winter weddings can be just as beautiful as summer weddings and after co-ordinating Jake and Laura's big day in December, I can most certainly vouch for that! You don't need to think of a theme with a twinkling Christmas tree, roaring fire and mince pies as canapes, what more could you ask for? Not only that but you don't need to worry about the weather as you've already planned it for the winter so you know what to aim for!

The beauty of planning your own DIY wedding is you can do exactly as you wish and after co-ordinating Cassie and Oliver's, I have to say there is something to be said for having your wedding at home in your back garden. With a relaxed, almost zen vibe, Cassie and Oliver had the most beautiful chilled out wedding day in the comfort of their family home and garden.

Deciding on your wedding decor is the fun part but on the day you might need some help putting everything in place whilst you get ready to tie the knot. Rachel and Ben had planned a DIY marquee wedding and needed some help in the morning of their big day to make sure their venue looked pretty and just as they wanted before everyone arrived.

As an on the day wedding co-ordinator so many of the weddings I co-ordinate are in the summer, which means the majority of my imagery are of bright sunny weddings. For that reason, I thought it was about time I showed everyone that winter weddings can be just as beautiful and somewhat mystical!

Planning a DIY wedding is great fun as it means you can personalise it and put your own stamp on your special day without lots of restrictions. This 'Real Wedding' blog tells the story of Katy and AJ who had their wedding reception in their parents garden with all their own handmade props.
