Whenever I receive a message from Lou, owner of The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House I can guarantee it will have an air of fun about it...
By chance Lou had had a conversation with Greg from TP Photography who mentioned he had several smoke-bombs he was keen to experiment with. Having not visited Lou and Colin's venue before Lou suggested getting together for a photo-shoot and as the saying goes...
From this casual chat the ‘Smoke Grenade’ photo-shoot was about to commence!
Although Lou had held many photo-shoots before she felt she needed some help with the organisation and co-ordination of the day.
As much as wedding suppliers love to be involved in a photo-shoot the worst thing about them is the waiting, especially when you want to see them featured. For that reason, we decided that this shoot would be for fun so we could share the images instantly across our social media and websites.
Lou and I soon got the ball rolling and contacted fellow wedding supplier friends who were all keen to join us.
With the main focus being smoke-bombs, Lou also wanted lots of smiles and laughter. It was felt that too many shoots consist of the moody looking bride and groom so our plan was to break that mould!
Kayleigh from Exclusively Yours Bridal Boutiquejoined us with this beautiful dress. Unbelievably it is the same dress in both shots but with the added skirt it gave a totally different look.
For Ross’s suit Rag Tagssupplied this tailored three piece suit which Alison took back to tradition with ‘top hat and tails’.
To create the fun chilled out vibe Lou put Colin to work and between them they built this fabulous tepee structure out of Hazel sticks. With Colin the ‘King’ of building props I was not surprised how totally awesome it looked!
To decorate the teepee we needed flowers as well as a bouquet and buttonhole, so we asked Sue from Old Chapel Flowers to join us. Sue is a florist and grows her own seasonal British flowers which makes her work all the more special.
Our bride, Abbey, is such a fabulous model and is always keen to come along for a day of fun at Lou and Colins. For Abbey's hair and make-up we had the lovely Mel from Bournemouth Bridal Hair and Make-up. Mel is such a talented hair and make-up artist...
Tessa from Tessa’s Tiarasdesigned and made this beautiful butterfly headpiece. Totally perfect in every way, it looked so apt outside in the sunshine with the fun bohemian vibe we were trying to create.
Cakes are an important part of a wedding so Melanie from Melanie Todd Cake Designcreated this perfectly fitting design. The colours matched so well and it looked fabulous on Lou & Colin’s cake-swing which we hung from their Hawthorn tree.
The wedding invitation is the first thing people see in the build up to a wedding and for that reason it is important that first impressions are good impressions! Charlotte from Pastel Designs loves to work with her clients to design bespoke stationery. Working with our colour scheme and styling Charlotte created this beautiful stationery set as well as the ‘Rustic Brides Rock’ sign...
With lots of help from Lou’s mum, her four legged friend ‘Alan’ was always close by. Loving the attention from everyone and in particular from Abbey we had to get him in shot, which he lapped up...
Although the intention was to share the images instantly, we all loved them so much that we decided if we could get them published somewhere quickly then it would be worth a try. I quickly gathered all of the information and sent everything off to BRIDE which when they replied to say they would feature it, we were thrilled!
If this shoot doesn't show what can be created when you are just mucking around with wedding supplier friends then I don't know what will!
