Last year I was lucky enough to meet Ed’s parents whilst co-ordinating a garden wedding party. It didn’t take long before we started chatting and Ed’s mum suggested my team and I might be exactly what their son and future daughter-in-law may need for their wedding next year.
A few months passed and I received an email from Ed to enquire how we may be able to help them and to ask if we could arrange a meeting to chat through their wedding plans.
When I first met with Em and Ed it was lovely to have both sets of parents join us. Everyone was extremely welcoming and it was so lovely to hear how involved they wanted to be in Em and Eds wedding preparations.
I knew instantly that this was going to be a beautiful homely wedding with a close-knit group of family and friends.
After having their legal wedding ceremony at Bromley Registry Office, their wedding celebrations were to be held at Eds parent’s home on the edge of the New Forest.
Taking my trusty team we were able to ensure Em and Eds day ran smoothly and all their guests were fed, watered and most importantly having a great time!
Whilst their friends led a ceremony on their beautifully set out drive, my team prepared the welcome drinks of Pimms, Prosecco, soft drinks and beer.
In the kitchen I was busy cooking the canapes which were the best choice I have ever seen...
While offering these around to the guests (who I have to say absolutely loved them!) Ed made the funniest remark I have ever had from a groom....
Ed – “Tash, you cracked it!”
Tash – “Cracked what?”
Ed – “We were just about to say the important bits during the ceremony and I got an amazing waft of sausage rolls and alphabites coming from the kitchen...it was perfect timing!”
After plenty of Pimms and games on the lawn the guests took a seat for the wedding breakfast which consisted of hampers supplied by Wild Picnicswhich were packed full of cheeses, meats, quiches, scotch eggs and salads.
During the meal we topped up the wine and water and when everyone had finished, we cleared the tables ready for the speeches. Whilst the speeches took place we laid out the huge array of cakes and puddings brought by their guests so they were ready for everyone to tuck into once they had finished.
With the puddings eaten, my team cleared the plates and set up the evening bar, while I met with the Rural Pizza Companywho had come to set up for the evening nibbles.
Once the pizza oven was positioned on the driveway, I checked the toilets were tidy and that there were enough toilet rolls.
By this point the band, Mister Kanish(who was Eds brother’s band) had set up and started playing and instantly everyone was up dancing...it was hard not to as they were amazing!
Close friends had set up a glitter bar so as the evening went on there were lots of glittered faces and beards appearing on the dancefloor.
We carried on serving drinks during the first part of the evening until we transformed it into a help yourself bar just before we left. Slowly we swapped all the glasses to plastic to avoid any broken glass and accidents happening later on. Em and Ed were particularly conscious to use as little plastic as possible so the guests were encouraged to write their names on their plastic glasses so they could re-use them. All through their planning Em and Ed were determined to be as environmentally friendly as possible so they made sure all their plastic was bio-degradable and their tea and coffee cups were compostable.
When we left everyone was having such a great time and it was clear that Em and Ed’s wedding celebrations would be going on into the early hours. With many of their guests camping in the front field it meant there were no time limits for this wedding party!
With such a chilled out vibe and Em and Ed being the loveliest of couples, my team and I enjoyed every minute of co-ordinating their beautiful and relaxed wedding.
If anything, I think Em and Ed’s wedding proves that you really can do whatever you want when planning your own...if you have the space then use it!
